The Fighter of Resilience recounts the true-life story of Cassius Baloyi known as The Hit Man and Mr. Shy Guy for his physical and character traits. Born and raised under harsh circumstances in Malamulele in the Northern Province of Limpopo, South Africa, he found solace in boxing, using the sport as an escape.
This exciting and engaging biography traces his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a legendary boxer named after the great Mohammed Ali. He gained an extraordinary boxing record from 1994 to 2012, becoming the only South African to ever win six World Titles across three weight categories. His story is one of resilience and determination, overcoming his difficulties, his struggles, his vicissitudes, but above all his great ability to always get back up and recover. During his life he had the honour of knowing and receiving a visit from President and Nobel Prize laureate Nelson Mandela. A devoted father of two girls, he never abandoned his faith in Christ, despite life’s many challenges.
A model of faith and perseverance.
After retiring from professional boxing, Cassius launched the Cassius Baloyi Boxing Academy, a non-profit organization, dedicated to teaching boxing to underprivileged youth, to raise new champions.

A story of drama, grit, love, hardship, and triumph. The book is a testament to Cassius Baloyi’s dedication and character. This account of his life leaves one motivated and amazed in the same way the boys he coached must have felt about him. Despite his trials and setbacks, his fighting spirit persevered, not least because of his deep relationship with God. The author takes the reader on an incredible journey, weaving a compelling narrative with unexpected twists and rich character development.
