THE GOD WITH MANY FACES – Fred Van Oystaeyen

“Logic teaches that survival for humanity in a cold universe will only be by uniting as one.”
Through poetry, song, and blues, The God With Many Faces explores the beauty and contradictions of human existence. From love and loss to war, nature, freedom, and hope, Fred Van Oystaeyen offers a thoughtful and deeply human meditation on the many forces that shape our lives. Beneath its diverse voices lies a single question: how can we become more compassionate, wiser, and more fully human in a changing world? Blending social criticism, spiritual reflection, and poetic fantasy, this collection offers a vision of humanity as both creator and creation, capable of tremendous destruction, yet equally capable of wisdom, kindness, and renewal.

Fred Van Oystaeyen is an internationally renowned mathematician. His father, a docker who often worked double shifts so that his son could attend university, helped make possible a career that would lead to more than three hundred scientific papers and fifty books, monographs, and conference proceedings. He is also the author of Journey to the Source of Consciousness, the science-philosophy book Time Hybrids, and the poetry collection Music From the Forest I Died In, Distant Drums of Silence. His distinctions include an honorary professorship in Beijing, honorary doctorates from the University of Almería and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and the unusual honor of having a street in Almería, Spain, named after him: Calle Fred Van Oystaeyen. A lifelong Blues music enthusiast, known among musicians as “Bluesfesser Fred,” Van Oystaeyen brings together mathematics, philosophy, and poetry in a search for order within the complexity of human experience, always tempered by irony, wonder, and joy.
